Illinois' FOCA Defeated! (For Now)

Friday was the deadline for passing HB 2354 and it was not called for a vote. That means that for this legislative session it is dead.Thank you so much to all of you who played a part in defeating the Illinois FOCA bill, HB 2354. It was a hard fought battle, but we held the margins in the house so that the anti-life forces could not pass it. Your phone calls, office visits, letters, signatures and door to door petitioning paid off! This victory will save many lives!Students for Life of Illinois played an important role in this victory.  We created the first and main petition against this bill which was used in lobbying efforts and obtained thousands of signatures.  We worked with other pro-life organizations to build the Stop Illinois FOCA Coalition, comprised of over 20 pro-life and pro-family organizations. We made multiple trips to Springfield to lobby critical legislators and we mobilized thousands of citizens to call, write and visit their representatives asking them to vote NO on Illinois FOCA.We could not have done this without your active participation.  Thank you!We must now step back and reflect on what happened.  We must now move forward to be on the offense promoting life and not just on the defense against the threats.  Please join our email list or return often to this website to receive important information on how we will be on the offense in the future.
