You Can Help: Pregnancy Centers
Have you ever been to a pregnancy Center?I've been talking with the director of a new pregnancy center that is opening in La Grange. These conversations inspired me to say a little something about the work of pregnancy centers here on the blog. The work of pregnancy center's is crucial to the pro-life movement. They are the charitable arm of ending abortion. Many people focus on political or educational means. These are important and we need to do everything. However, the work of pregnancy centers is really the foundation of respecting the dignity of both the woman and the baby. Please take a moment to reflect on how you can help your local pregnancy center. Find one that is close and donate or volunteer! As for those in or near La Grange, check out this new center:
Women’s Care Center of La Grange is a new pro-life crisis pregnancy center in La Grange, IL dedicated to saving babies from abortion and providing their moms and dads with the help they need to choose life. You may be aware that in our area many young women are facing crisis pregnancies. They need moral support, counseling, and material assistance and referrals of many kinds. Our mission is to provide them with all of this in a loving, concerned environment. We offer free pregnancy tests, free and low cost ultrasounds and pre-natal care (through our network of resources), confidential counseling, medical and housing referrals, and material and financial assistance, including baby and maternity clothing, diapers, baby furniture, food assistance, etc., for those demonstrating need.Maybe she is single, alone and afraid. Maybe she has other small children and her husband just lost his job. Maybe she has a medical condition and feels overwhelmed. Sometimes a caring person who takes the time to listen to her concerns is what she needs most. Whatever the challenges she is facing during her pregnancy, we are there to hold her hand and face them with her. And we are there for her after her baby is born.In order to provide these young women with the resources and guidance they need, we need volunteers with many talents, including those who can do computer work, answer phones and make appointments, develop resources, help with fundraising events (such as our banquet on November 13) and collect clothing. If you would like more information or would like to volunteer for this life-saving and life-affirming center, please email Meredith at merejcarp@gmail.com. God bless you for caring!
