Sacrificial Love

2015 conferenceThis is by far the best pro-life event that I have ever gone to!On October 17th, SFLI held its 9th Annual Conference at Loyola University to educate, equip, and empower students to be pro-life leaders. Attracting students from Illinois and Iowa, over 80 students attended from 9 schools. It strengthened my pro-life stance and equipped me to defend it.Jay Watts of Life Training Institute taught pro-life logic and Loyola Professor, Fr. James Murphy, explained the philosophy of personhood.I can use today as a starting point for good, logical arguments while respecting the person I’m engaging in a discussion.Themed “Sacrificial Love,” the Conference provided speakers who sacrificed for life. Tim Biondo spoke of adopting six children, including multiple with special needs.I realized I need to man up more and speak out.Lorenzo, whose mother nearly aborted him, called students to “respond with love and mercy.” Linda Couri, former abortion clinic employee, explained how to reach someone before abortion and Vicki Thorn, founder of Project Rachel, taught students to help those hurt by abortion.I had high expectations and it far surpassed them. When asked how what he/she learned will impact his/her actions on campus, students responded, “I will have more conversations about abortion with my pro-choice friends” and “I am motivated to keep leading.”I learned so much and fell in love with the movement.SFLI sends out students, like one attendee, to “be a louder voice for the voiceless!”
