"Is Abortion Wrong?"

Cavan first went out to dialogue during Daring Greatly with weDignify two years ago. After getting more involved with pro-life work, he decided to go out on his own, holding a sign that said, “Is Abortion Wrong?”

“My goal was to dialogue with dignity, I wanted to challenge pro-lifers to deepen their beliefs, and ask pro-choice students questions that might plant a seed in their heart. But no matter their stance, I offered flyers with pregnancy resources and QR codes to learn more about WeDignify.”

During Cavan's first time on the quad, a young woman walked by, saw his sign, and immediately said:

“No, I don’t think abortion is ever wrong! What do you think?”

“Cavan shared, "It was overwhelming at first, but she was kind and civil. She was strongly pro-choice because she believed pregnancy is dangerous for young women.”

“Midway through, she admitted she wouldn’t serve alcohol to a pregnant woman. I asked, ‘Why not? Shouldn’t she decide what to do with her body?’ She paused, then said, ‘Well, no, because someone else, the baby, is involved.’”

Cavan could tell this got her thinking, and while she didn’t change her stance, seeds of hope were planted. He shared the pregnancy resource flyer with here, and she took it and said she would share the resources with her friends!

“Even though we walked away disagreeing on many things, we had agreed that it is important to help and support women and mothers.”
