2011 Summit: "I Extremely Agree! =)"
Every year it's fun and interesting to look through the anonymous feedback forms after the SFLI Pro-Life Summit. This year was no exception. Before telling you about what I found, I want to thank everyone who came out to the SFLI Midwest Summit this past weekend! It was a great day. I could feel the energy in the room from the pro-life students there who were eager to learn!
Back at the Office
Now I'm back at the SFLI office looking at these forms to see how we can improve on the Summit for next year. The forms look good. You see, this year's forms are better than any other year. The response is overwhelmingly positive. Which I like and I don't like.I'm glad that this was a great experience for the students who came. I'm glad that it will equip them to be more effective at building the pro-life movement on campuses. But, it doesn't give me much input on what we can improve...I guess that's a good thing! At the end of the feedback form we have a spot that says "Please share any other additional comments or suggestions"This section is usually skipped over, but this year a lot of people voluntarily filled it out. Here are some of the things they said:A Student from UIC said: "Great Conference! Thank you so much! So glad I came!!"A Student from Loyola said: "I had a great day!"Another student said "No words for the emotions and inspiration I've felt today. Thank you sincerely."A student from Wheaton said "Well-organized, convincing and inspiring. Thank you!"There are several more like this, but I just wanted to give you a sampling. There's one response that really made me smile. It's in the title of this article. It's the response to a statement in which there are 4 choices. "I agree" "I somewhat agree" "I somewhat disagree" "I disagree"The Dominican student first circled the "I agree" option and then crossed it out and wrote "I extremely agree! =)"The statement?"I would come again next year" -- To which this student responded "I extremely agree! =)"
You're Just Bragging
No, I'm not. I'm not just tooting the SFLI horn here. This is an instructive moment. There were dozens of students who didn't come who should have been there. There were many students who had different priorities. Some who were too lazy. Some who didn't see it as important. So, for anyone who missed out or who weren't able to make it, remember the above response for next year's Summit - and do everything you can to come! For those who did come...I'm looking forward to seeing what amazing things you'll do this year to save lives and build a movement!
