Indiana De-Funds PP, Will Illinois Follow Suit?

The state of Indiana just cut funding off for Planned Parenthood! This is great news!No state should be funding an organization that kills pre-born children. From the story:

Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels signed a measure Tuesday imposing some of the nation's tightest restrictions on abortions and making Indiana the first state to cut off funding to Planned Parenthood....Planned Parenthood of Indiana said it will seek a temporary restraining order and injunction Tuesday in federal court to try to keep the funding in place. The organization says the law — which would cut off about $3 million in public funds used to pay for services such as birth control, cancer screening and tests for sexually transmitted diseases — is unconstitutional and violates federal law.Planned Parenthood maintains the new law, which takes effect immediately, could leave as many as 22,000 patients without access to Pap tests and other non-abortion services.

Isn't that like Planned Parenthood? They just love to sue!If the courts of Indiana are anything like some of the courts in Illinois, then this law may not go into effect for years. Let's hope that Indiana courts are less ideological!

What about in Illinois?

In the near term, I don't think Illinois will have the ability to do anything like this.  Planned Parenthood and their political connections will make it nearly impossible.Do you think this type of law could ever pass in Illinois?
